Kendamil’ Heads to Gulfood With Another Award In The Locker

Kendal Nutricare, is heading to the world’s largest food show – Gulfood – with another exporting accolade in its locker.

The name behind the growing brand ‘Kendamil’ – a unique-recipe infant formula based on full cream whole milk rather than skimmed – has just scooped the award for ‘Greater China Rising Star’ in the Department for International Trade’s ‘Greater China Awards 2017’.

The award recognises Kendamil’s success in breaking into the China market, where it is now stocked by 6000 mother and baby stores. It also rewards the strategy the brand adopted in relation to the Chinese market, which involved employing a Chinese representative, Miss Lucy Shen, in Shanghai, to help find the right distribution partners in a vast and opportunity-filled market.  This move also enabled ‘Kendamil’ to stay abreast of frequently changing regulations and better understand the Chinese culture and the needs of the Chinese caring parent.

Having recently returned from exhibiting at the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, the ‘Kendamil’ team now has its sights set on Gulfood in Dubai, where it is exhibiting from February 26 to March 2.

Kendal Nutricare will be using the exhibition to showcase ‘Kendamil’, as well as introducing world buyers to two new world-class infant formulas, ‘Kendamil’ Organic and ‘Kendamil Goat’, and adult nutrition drink, ‘Kendalife’.

This important international opportunity comes at a time when ‘Kendamil’ is also creating a stir in the home market and gaining listings in leading supermarkets and stores. The unique full cream recipe of ‘Kendamil’, with its nutritional benefits, is catching the eye of buyers keen on both giving infants a formula that cuts back on the oil content – around 20 per cent of other brands – and providing parents with the only British manufactured infant formula.

Backing Kendamil’s unique selling point is a compelling provenance, as the brand buys its whole milk from 220 trustworthy farms in the South Lakes and Lancashire. It has earned the British ‘Red Tractor’ accreditation mark as a result of this traceability and field-to-factory mentality.

Having already introduced more innovation to the infant formula market than has been witnessed in the last decade, through the creation and launch of ‘Kendamil’, Kendal Nutricare is ready to tick the box of both parents seeking organic lifestyles, and parents with babies that have digestion issues and find goat’s milk easier to drink.

Kendamil Organic takes its milk from Soil Association-certified organic farms in Britain, whilst the goat milk formula uses milk from committed and passionate specialist goat farmers.

Gulfood will also see the international launch of ‘Kendalife’ – a complete superfruit smoothie that is a 215-calorie meal replacement that assists weight management goals for those on a calorie-controlled diet and also packs a punch by delivering powerful nutrients that support busy lifestyles. It is the ideal dietary product for the grab-and-go customer wishing to maintain good health and have all the energy they need to support their daily activities and exercise regime.

Kendal Nutricare expects the two enticing flavours of ‘Mango and Passion Fruit’ and ‘Super Berry’ (strawberries, raspberries and blueberries) to appeal to those aware of the nutritional ‘benefits of superfruits. ‘Kendalife’ uses only natural fruit, free from additives and contaminants, and and delivers 24 vitamins and minerals, plus 17g of protein, in each easy-to-make-up serving. It can be prepared in a shaker bottle, simply by adding 250ml of water.

Additionally, ‘Kendalife’ is free from gluten, soya and GMO, high in fibre, and suitable for those following vegetarian diets.

Kendal Nutricare’s CEO, Ross McMahon, says: “We were delighted to have our ‘Kendamil’ exporting successes in China recognised by the judges of the ‘Greater China Awards 2017’ and the award will give another massive boost to our employees here in Kendal.

“It is an award that rewards the enthusiasm of employees in two continents and which should help provide even more work and employment opportunities at our Kendal-based factory.

“Winning this latest award couldn’t have come at a better time, as we now have the opportunity to talk about this at Gulfood, where we will be meeting many international buyers keen to find out more about ‘Kendamil’ and ‘Kendalife’ and work with a reliable and innovative export partner. We shall be flying the flag for Kendal in Dubai and ensuring that everyone understands the vitality of the town that inspired the names of our brands.”
